The first time I saw this, it was pouring rain and I was on the way to the groomers. I avoided the red, because I was worried that the mixture of the rain and the paint – in addition to the regular mats and the Vaseline issue – would reduce our groomer to tears. Luckily, it didn’t come off, so I got to take this picture on a sunny day!

Summer time days with dogs on the patio are pretty awesome. So is that orange plant in the background. We bought it for the patio thinking it looked cool – we had no idea just how it would thrive and explode with colour. Credit goes to Jeff for the find.

For Jeff’s (belated) and my Dad’s birthdays, I knit them hats. I know, I know – it’s July. But it will get cold sometime! The hats are designed by Jared Flood, called “Turn a Square“. I used Cascade 220 (the grey) and Noro Kureyon for the colour. It was an addictive knit, because I kept wanting to go on to see how the colours would change.

For my Dad’s birthday, we went to one of our favourite restaurants – Banana Leaf! We usually each order a dish, and share family style. It works out well, where we always get a nice mix of roti, veggies, meats, chicken and seafood. Someone always orders roti (we’re huge fans). I always get the eggplant and my dad always gets the pineapple fried rice. We’re consistent!

My dad, my mom, my sister and I all piled in the car at 7 am to head over to Portland. Our main goals? Try the food carts (I’ll post some other day), get to Knit Purl (one guess at who wanted that), shop at Nordstrom/Nordstrom Rack (my mom), shop the outlets AND to meet Sophie. Sophie is the puppy that my parents will be getting mid August. She is a part Maltese and part Yorkie. I took a ton of pictures of Sophie and her siblings, which I’ll post at a later date. Here is Sophie on my mom’s lap. How could my mom NOT pick her?

This was taken at the Tulalip Casino buffet, where we stopped for some dinner on the way home.

So yesterday, once I got across the border, I turned my phone on to send him a text, letting him know that I was close(r) to home. I quickly got a phone call back – he was super worried and had been calling for some time, because he thought that I would be home by 12. We didn’t even leave the outlets until after 1 pm! Oops. I feel horrible for making him worry. He was on the internet looking up accidents and traffic jams, hoping to get a handle on where I might be.

I’m a bad girlfriend.

He tidied up the house – and left this for me to surprise me when I got home. He’s a good boyfriend.
