un peu capoté…

my life in pictures

So, this post wraps up a month of pictures, with a focus on manual focus. For February, my focus will be auto focus modes. I know that I just spent a whole month working on manual focus (which I’m liking and doing much better at, I think!), I do need to understand the different auto focus modes better. I take a lot of pictures where manual focus just isn’t going to work – like pictures of dogs. Unless they’re sleeping, they don’t stay still very long! There’s an article at Digital Photography School that I need to read with a “critical eye”, as my friend Rob would call it.

Power outage all night long. It fried my internet – it’s still not back to normal! That explains the sad lack of updates on this blog lately. Sorry!

We went to Salt for dine out Vancouver. We went last year and had a terrific experience, so I really wanted to go back this year. Unfortunately, it just didn’t live up to last year’s experience. The server seemed overwhelmed. We got the cheese and meat plates way before we got bread and the wine flights that were meant to be paired with the meats and cheeses. Jeff and Jeffrey were still pretty hungry, because they dove into their food before getting the bread. The girls waited, but only for the bread. We were so hungry! By the time the wine came, most of the meats and cheeses were gone. Too bad! Oh well. The company was terrific and I got to take pictures, so I was still pretty happy.

Jeff and I got some last minute tickets to the Canada vs. Mexico CONCACAF game. Even as a non soccer player, I thoroughly enjoyed the game. BC Place looks amazing, and the game itself was full of action. All four goals – 3 for Canada – were terrific to watch.

Light trails with my gorillapod. I used the 2 second delay, but it still seems that my gorillapod isn’t quite as stable as a normal tripod. Oh well, I still like this shot.

Jeff and I don’t give the dags human food… but they do have doting “grandpup-rents” who DO share sometimes. I’ve noticed that they tend to try to get up close and personal with food when we eat it now! Friday was quite curious about Jeff’s pancakes.
